What's Next for UR Courses
UR Courses is currently based on Moodle 4.5, and was last updated on August 28, 2026 from Moodle 4.5.11 to Moodle 4.5.13.

New server available January 2027
A new server for UR Courses, based on Moodle 5.3, is being phased in for the start of the Spring/Summer 2027 term.
On April 29, 2027, the current version of UR Courses (based on Moodle 4.5.13), will be replaced by UR Courses-Next. The older version will remain accessible as an archived version.

Courses in development for the Spring/Summer 2027 term and beyond will begin moving to the new UR Courses-Next server beginning January 4, 2027.
Why is this happening?
As a result of the LMS review, it was recommended that we change our approach for major upgrades to UR Courses in order to minimize downtime and allow additional time to work within the new platform prior to course delivery.
What do I need to do?
The Instructional Technologies team will begin working with instructors in January to identify and move courses for delivery in the Spring/Summer 2027 term and beyond.
In the meantime, we will continue to update our third party plugins and apply the minor release updates prior to the beginning of each term.
